In this supplementary report on phthalic anhydride, preliminary process designs and cost estimates are presented for the vapor phase oxidation of o-xylene in fixed bed reactors at low and for the liquid phase oxidation of o-xylene. Cost estimates are given also for SRI's versions of the BASF, Chemische Fabrik Von Heyden, and Rhone-Progil processes for the low-temperature oxidation of o-xylene in fixed bed reactors.
Updated costs that include changes in the processes are
presented for the high-temperature oxidation of o-xylene in fixed bed reactors,
the low- and high-temperature oxidation of naphthalene in fixed bed reactors,
and the oxidation of o-xylene (speculative), petroleum naphthalene, and coal-tar
naphthalene (desulfurized) in fluid bed reactors.
